Release Notes 6/02/2020

The latest release of the UCPath All Employees-Unit Roster & UCPath - Dope reports as well as the related UCPath - Employment Daily and FINITE universe versions incorporate a number of formatting and calculation changes to the reports based on direct feedback from a team of key end-users who committed the time to review the latest changes and comment on the presentation. With several rounds of feedback-and-fix, we were able to bring the latest changes to the user community with much more certainty and utility. Many thanks to the reviewers for their time and feedback!

Highlights of what’s new

UCPath All Employees - Unit Roster report

  1. Job FTE - This is not new but has been moved just to the right of the key funding objects in the report for convenience.
  2. Dist Pct - This is not new but has been moved just to the right of the key funding objects in the report for convenience.
  3. Pct of Pay - This is a new calculation that multiplies Job FTE * Earnings Dist Pct.
  4. Base Comp Annual or Hourly - This is the annual compensation which is NOT adjusted for FTE . This data comes from the entries in the COMPENSATION table for each employee. The only rate code not included in the computation is UCGCY which is based on an annual agreement and applies only to earnings code NNC.
  5. Base Comp Monthly or Hourly - This is Base Comp Annual compensation divided by a number based on the employees “Comp Freq” to represent a monthly base payroll amount. Again be aware that this value is a NON-FTE adjusted amount.
  6. FTE Adjusted Comp Rate - This is the FTE adjusted monthly compensation amount from the job record (hourly not included) .

  4. Base Comp Annual or Hourly - This is the annual compensation that is NOT adjusted for FTE. This data comes from the entries in the COMPENSATION table for each employee. The only rate code not included in the computation is UCGCY which is based on an annual agreement and applies only to earnings code NNC.
  5. Base Comp Monthly or Hourly - This is Base Comp Annual or Hourly amount which is then divided by a number based on how frequently the employee get paid. The associated divisor will represent a monthly base payroll amount. Again be aware that this value is a NON-FTE adjusted amount.

New UCPath - Employment Daily compensation objects

These objects have been added or enhanced to provide details for an employee’s compensation.

How Annual Base Compensation is calculated

Base annual compensation which is NOT adjusted for FTE comes from the entries in the COMPENSATION table for each employee for the various types of compensation that the employee is entitled to based on job. The compensation entries have a RateCd for each Comprate amount which indicates the type of compensation. The BASE calculation for all employees will accumulate all of the Comprate values to get the total BASE amount. The only rate code not included in the computation is UCGCY which is based on an annual agreement and applies only to earnings code NNC.

The BASE Monthly compensation amount is then used in the “PCT of Pay” calculation in the Salary and Benefits data.

UCPath “PCT of Pay” new universe object

A new object was added to the UCPath Employment Daily universe to provide a dimension with the “Unit Roster” version of Pct of Pay which is defined as Job FTE * Finding Entry Dist Pct (distribution percentage). This object is available in the Position Funding Earnings folder.

Salary and Benefit Expense New universe objects

Universe changes actually apply to both the UCPath Employment Daily and the FINITE universes.

I added a class/folder for the compensation objects and I included several new objects to expose the compensation values in the R_COMPENSATION table. This table contains the NON-FTE adjusted annual compensation. These new objects are identified by the “ Base ” in the name which indicates the value is NOT adjusted for FTE.

Highlights:

  • SBE Base Annual or Hourly - this is the Annual compensation without any FTE adjustment. This object accumulates the various types of compensation for an employee (see note above on this process).
  • SBE Base Monthly or Hourly - This is the annual amount divided by a factor driven by the Comp Frequency value (see below)
  • SBE Base Comprate Converted - this is the COMPRATE_CONVRTD amount from the COMPENSATION table. This is typically the amount stored in the JOB.COMPRATE field.
