Filters: Select from List

Introduction

It can be hard to know what to enter as the filter value in a filter, especially if you do not already know the data very well. InfoView filters based on exact matches, so the value entered must be entered in precisely the right format.

If you don't know exactly what to enter, you might want to try selecting from a list of possible values. This guide describes how to find the List of Values and then make your selections.

Step-by-Step Guide

1. Create a new report (or, edit an existing report).

2. Create your filter by dragging and dropping the object into the Report Filters box.

3. Choose the operator that you want to use (or leave the operator as the default In List).

4. Click on the filter-options button at the very end of the filter. In the drop-down menu, select "Value(s) from List".

Note: This is not an option for some objects: this option may be grayed out or it will not show a list as described below.

5. In the pop-up window, make your selections by double-clicking on each value or clicking once and then the ">" button.

To deselect, click on the object once in the list of selected values in the box on the right side. Then, click the "<" button.

If you can only select one value and you would like to select many values (or vice versa), consider changing your operator.

If the values are all out of order, click once on the heading to sort them.

Some lists are long enough that they are displayed in sections. If this is the case, you'll see a drop-down menu describing the range of each section above the list. Pick one to navigate to that section.

Finally, it is also possible to search. The search box is located below the list of values. Enter your search terms and click the binoculars button.

6. When you are happy with your selections, click "OK".
