Search Reports

You can start a search using the search box in the top right corner of the screen, or at the bottom of the left-hand menu on the Documents tab

Note: please be patient; there can be a delay between when you kick off the search and when the results are displayed, during which there is no processing icon to show that the search is in process. When the search is complete, you will either see search results or the text "The search found no matching results."

Search Techniques

  • Do not use a mixture of lowercase and uppercase letters in search text.
  • Separating search terms with a space implies an “AND” – the search looks for documents that include all the terms you entered.
  • Use an asterisk (*) or a question mark (?) as wild card characters.

Examples:

  • sales 199* produces results that contain the word “sales” and any year from 1990 to 1999
  • l?st produces results that contain the words “last” “list” or “lost”.
  • Put search text in quotation marks to produce results when the exact search text is found.
  • Precede search terms with a minus sign (-) to produce results when the word after the minus sign is not found and the remaining search text is found in a document.
  • Separate search terms with OR.

The search will look for matches in any of this searchable report content:

  • Titles
  • Descriptions
  • Universe filter names
  • Saved data
  • Constants in filter conditions that are defined in a document
  • Universe measure names
  • Universe object names
  • Data in record set
  • Static text in cells

It will also look for matches in any of this searchable Excel file content:

  • Data
  • Document properties (title, subject, author, company, category, keywords and comments)
  • Header and footer text
  • Calculation or formula values
  • Number and date/time values

Your results will be limited to reports and files that you have the security to see. You can use the filters on the left to refine your search results by author, document type, location, refresh time, datasource, and corporate categories.
