Change to Design Mode

"Design Mode" is a mode of operation in InfoView that is optimized for working on reports. It is required for many types of report work in InfoView. Design Mode offers many toolbars and information palettes to shape and change reports. Design Mode is usually set opposite to "Reading Mode", which is optimized for viewing reports.

To interact with the objects that you selected for your report, you'll need to be able to find them in the Available Objects data palette.

Most of the changes that you will want to make to your reports require being in Design Mode and many of those changes will also use the available objects in your report. Design Mode and the Available Objects data palette will be referenced in many other guides and videos: you'll need to know what they are and how to get to them.

Step-by-Step Guide

Change to Design Mode

1. Locate and open a report that you would like to shape or change. Reports will always open in Reading Mode by default.

Don't know where the report is? Check our Find Reports guide for help.

2. If the report is older, empty, or especially if it is a Corporate Report, refresh the report. This step will make sure that the report that you are working on is up-to-date.

Don't know how to refresh a report? Check our Refresh Reports guide for help.

3. In the upper right corner, click on "Design Mode".
